Each rugby world cup has been different but there is still a constant. That constant is to beat The All Blacks. They are just amazing and they are the team that everyone wants to beat. The first Rugby Union World Cup was jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand and was won by the New Zealand All Blacks. There was great excitement here. Having married into a rugby loving family rugby was the constant topic of conversation.
Now I could tell you the stats relating to the World Cup but there are plenty of bloggers who can fill you in. Each Rugby Union World Cup has been a totally different experience for me. Why? Because of the people with whom I have interacted with during the course of the tournament.

Having married into a rugby loving family rugby was the constant topic of conversation. I was still employed in Dublin at the time and every shop was decorated, flags adorned lamp posts and the atmosphere was electric. No matter where you went shops, pubs, supermarkets the topic of conversation was rugby.
It was the tournament, when Australia beat Ireland in the extra time that we oldies still talk about. The disappointment was palpable. At the start of that tournament my hubby gave me an Irish Sweatshirt which had the names of all the squad printed on the sleeves. Yes, I still have it and it comes out for all the Irish matches.
